Tis the season so they say.
Are you one of the millions that will be hitting the road this holiday season?
If the answer to this question is yes then I have a few tips and products you can take along with you to try and stay somewhat on track when all you want to do is splurge.
1. Stay hydrated. Drink lots of water. I am usually seen walking around with some type of reusable water bottle that I have in the house. If you are traveling on a plane bring an empty reusable bottle with you and fill it up after you go through security. Another way that I love to stay hydrated is with coconut water. My personal favorite is the chocolate flavor from Zico.
2. There is nothing worse than traveling and not feeling good because you stopped for something to eat to just put something in your body and knew it was not the right thing. I ALWAYS carry some type bar in my bag. If I am going away for a few days I carry enough for at least 1 a day. They do not take up a lot of room either! Some of my favorites include – Luna Bars, Kind Bars, Lara Bars, and Perfect Fit Bars.
3. Aside from traveling with bars I also tend to bring along fruit and protein waffles or pancakes. As long as you are traveling in the United States the fruit will be good for consumption after your flight lands and you are to where you will be going. If traveling out of the United States make sure you eat that fruit before you get off the plane as you are not allowed to bring fruit into a foreign country. As far as protein waffles and pancakes go I make them ahead of time and have them ready. You can eat them hot or cold. These will help to give you some energy while you are taking that long holiday trip.
4. Not sure if you will be able to get some exercise in while away? Take 1 set of workout clothes with you for that ‘just in case’ moment! Have a little free time put them on and get going. Head out for a run or walk, turn on your favorite workout DVD on the tv or YouTube, or even see if a family member or friend belongs to a gym and get them to go so you can tag along. Any little bit will help so do not be afraid to spend a little time getting it done! I do not think you will regret it!
Never regret a workout as it will only make you stronger!
